Why is it important to
be a member of FONCPL?
In
this time of declining resources and
of increased demands being
placed on our library systems, it is
incumbent on each of us to do
our part in supporting both our local
libraries and the state library
system. The Friends of North Carolina
Public Libraries (FONCPL)
exists as an umbrella organization to
provide liaison with the State
Library and support for local Friends
organizations.
Your
annual membership dues enable FONCPL
to offer workshops for member
Friends groups across North Carolina
providing opportunities for
sharing, learning, and networking. The
FONCPL website is packed with
resources and training videos. Dues
are also used to fund project
grants and service recognition awards.
Note that awards and grants
are based on funding availability in a
given year.
Many
local Friends organizations and public
libraries hold group
memberships in FONCPL. Individuals are
also encouraged to hold
personal memberships. Each individual
or group member is emailed the
FONCPL newsletter which is packed with
ideas that could benefit your
Friends. We encourage members to
contribute news, articles and
photos.
The
FONCPL Board members (Officers and
Directors), all of whom volunteer
their time and service, provide direct
support to Friends groups by
sharing their knowledge and experience
whenever requested. A list of
the Directors is available on this
website.
Your
support of FONCPL, local Friends of
the Library groups and of our
fine library system statewide is
appreciated. We hope that you value
our work and will choose to become and
to remain a member of FONCPL.
FONCPL
is a 501(c)3 organization and dues are
tax deductible as allowed by
law. Membership runs from January to
the end of the following
December. Come join us!
